Morchit

Morchit-Chatuchak is a transportation hub centered around BTS (Skytrain) Morchit and Saphan Khwai Stations, and MRT (subway) Chatuchak Park and Kamphaeng Phet Stations. Construction to extend BTS beyond its current Morchit terminus is underway. The new Bang Sue “Grand Station”, where several train lines will converge, is also under construction nearby. This mostly residential neighborhood is home to Thais and middle-income foreigners.

Local condominium projects are priced at approximately THB 130,000–180,000 per square meter. Recent projects include:

Hotels in the area include Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao, plus several boutique hotels: V20 Boutique Hotel, C U Inn Bangkok and Boutique Poo-Yai Ma.

Among many excellent local dining options are Laemgate, Sanun Kao Tom Pla, Ploen Seafood and Goong Tung (Thai-style seafood), The Third Pig (Asia fusion), Longdo (Vietnamese), Kaiyang Suayai (Northeastern Thai), In The Middle by Kaizen (Japanese yakiniku), and Jeffer Steak.

For an after-dinner drink, Morchit offers excellent opportunities, including Blue Sky rooftop bar at Centara Grand Hotel, Ninetails and Play Yard along Ladprao Road, Rusty Bar, Viva 8, and Viva 26 inChatuchak Market, and a cluster of bars near BTS Ari Station.

The main area shopping malls are Central Plaza Ladprao and Union Mall.  Other shopping areas are JJ Mall and the Or Tor Kor food market. MRT operates Metro Malls at Phahonyothin, Chatuchak Park and Kamphaeng Phet Stations. The amazing Chatuchak Weekend Market attracts huge crowds every Saturday and Sunday, beginning in the early morning. 

At MRT Chatuchak Park Station is a cluster of three parks: Chatuchak Park; Queen Sirikit Park, including JJ Green Night Market and Children's Discovery Museum; Wachirabenjatat (“Rot Fai”) Park. To the north is Suan Mokkh Bangkok, a Buddhist education and meditation center dedicated to the work of Thai monk Buddhadasa Bikkhu. Absolute You is located at Central Plaza Ladprao. Wat Phaitan is located along the Bang Sue Canal. Churches in the area include St. John's Catholic Church and Mahabhorn Christian.

Nearby schools include Horwang School, Kasetsart University and St. John University. The Civil Aviation Training Center provides aviation training to the public.

The nearest area hospital is Paolo Memorial Hospital. At BTS Sanam Pao Station is Phyathai 2 Hospital.
